What is Apogee Create?

Apogee Create is a standalone product that generates workflow-optimized PDF files, and allows you to create portable job tickets on any Macintosh or Windows computer. When your job tickets are ready, you can save them to file as selfcontained portable PDF Jobs. You can then send these PDF Jobs to the Apogee Pilot production system. The Apogee Pilot is an integral part of the Apogee Pilot production system that incorporates all prepress components in a single workflow, including imposition, OPI replacement, trapping, ripping, and print file management. The PDF Jobs that you save will be finalized with additional processing and output options on the Apogee Pilot production system, and are then output to an Apogee RIP and output device.

You do not need to have a connection to the Apogee Pilot system, or even to be connected to a network. You simply install Apogee Create on your local system, and set up a printer and/or one or more input folders. Once you have done this, you can start creating workflow-optimized PDF files and building your PDF Jobs.

• An easy-to-use interface that does not require sophisticated prepress production knowledge. You can install Apogee Create and start building PDF Jobs without any training, and without worrying about how the job needs to be processed or output.
• You can convert desktop documents into workflow-optimized PDFs by simply printing the documents.
• You can convert PostScript or EPS files into workflow-optimized PDFs by dragging them to a predefined Hot folder.
• You can be sure that the content of your normalized PDF remains exactly as it was designed in the original document, including bleeds, spot colors, multitone colors, color gradients, and colorized TIFFs.
• You can create PJTF-based portable job tickets (PJTF is Adobe’s Portable Job Ticket Format). These job tickets can be: 1) saved independently, as job tickets. 2) saved within a PDF file, which is referred to as a PDF Job.
• PDF Jobs contain not only the job ticket information, but also the actual PDF pages themselves. A PDF Job is therefore a single, self-contained file that is both manageable and reliable.
• Users who receive these PDF Jobs further down in the Apogee Pilot production system can count on standard and reliable PDFs that can be processed before being sent to an output device.
• Apogee Create offers automated control and correctional functionality, based on Enfocus PitStop Preflight profiles.
• The Apogee Pilot production manager can generate Normalizer and Preflight profiles. These profiles can be distributed to Apogee Create users, who can simply drop or import them into Apogee Create. This automates, standardizes, and simplifies the setup procedure for Apogee Create users.
